Musings on the week ahead

So I am in for a fun week.  Yes, fun in the sarcastic sense.  It is going to be another busy one.  Busy for many reasons.  Two customer meetings is a start.  They are always tricky, because you have to prepare for them.  But I also have 2 major deadlines due this week.  Thankfully next week I am out of the office all week.

On the plus side.  Drinks on friday with a former colleague.  Which will be fun.  Always good to catch up with people.  Saturday my car is due its MOT (as long as the window gets fixed this week).  And then hopefully lunch with Chris and Ben at Lakeside. The following Monday, a bank holiday in the UK, is my great uncle's 90th birthday party.  Then off to Amsterdam for the following week.

Outside of that I am working on several projects.  One of which is making good progress and should go live in December.  The other, technical geeky project is making slow and steady progress, still on the drawing board, but some of the ideas that are coming out are pretty exciting.

So all in all, things are looking good.  Am away for my birthday weekend.  Life is pretty good :)

Sunday Music Choices

Well another Sunday evening and another chance to change the music selection in my car.  This week I have a 200 mile round trip to Birmingham (oh the joys) as well as my usual journey to work, so my selection is a little varied.  Last week I didn't change the choice much, just added 2 CDs of radio plays (Agatha Christie).  But this week my choice is as follows

The Blackest Album 4 - An Industrial tribute to Metallica.  Some interesting versions of classic Metallica tracks.  Something to get the blood pumping.
On The Floor at the Boutique - Mixed by Fatboy Slim.  Classic Big beat tracks from the Big Beat Master himself.
Total Euphoria - Mixed by Dave Pearce.  Chilled out Euphoric dance music.  Perfect for the drive home to relax to.
Cocky - Kid Rock.  More country nu-rap-metal from Mr Rock
Devil without a cause - Kid Rock.  Contains one of my favourite tracks of all time, Only God Knows Why.
Minutes to Midnight - Linkin Park.  Their best so far.

Evening Dinner

It is always good to catch up with old friends.  My friend Becky, well technically my ex, but still a good friend, is due to give birth in a few weeks and is looking radiant.  It made me realise a few things.  I have always wondered if I would make a good father.  I know it is something that I probably will never experience.  That is my choice, a choice I have made.  Maybe things will change given time, but at the moment it is what it is.

But it was fun catching up.  Fun to get out and relax with someone where you can just be.  Where you don't need to be too hypersensitive other people's feelings.  Cautious about what you say in case you treat on some deeply buried insecurities.

I think in some ways it is why I came off of facebook.  It is full of those kind of people.  Who blame everyone for their own failings.  Things happen to them because of x, y and z.  I just don't have time for it.  Don't get me wrong.  I love my friends I really do, but sometimes their self centred bs is just too much
