"Cheers to a new year, and another chance for us to get it right" - Oprah Winfrey
So another year has passed into the annuls of history and 2012 is upon us. An Olympic year. London will, for the summer, reverberate to the old olympic addage "Swifter, Higher, Stronger", where athletes both able and disabled will push themselves to the max to deliver entertainment as well as winning medals for their achievements.
And that is what 2012 should be about. Being awesome. Achieving more than you believe you can achieve. The world is in a poor state of health. There is no denying that. All you need to do is take a look at the news, read a paper, or just look around you. High streets are suffering, people are suffering, the world is suffering.
But this is a new year, and a chance to take what we have and make it better. A chance to do everything that we can do to make those little changes. Maybe shop in a local store, rather than a big chain, recycle more, cook more healthier foods. A new year is a chance to make those changes that we do talk about, but sometimes never get around to implementing.
For me, I am not making resolutions, but am going to be doing the following:
- Recycle more. Rather than throw things away, recycle them, make that consious effort to do my bit
- Cook more often. Rather than eat out, make food for myself, and cook from scratch rather than "cheat"
- Focus more. Deliver on what I can do, rather than bluffing my way through certain situations.
- Exercise more. Stop finding excuses for not taking the time to exercise.
All 4 of these are wolly, I know that. The use of the phrase "more" is a dead give away, but for me that is the theme for 2012. Do more. Live more.
And as for blogging. This is day 1. 365 days to go until 2013 :)
